Lorrie Vogel is the founder of ImagineNOW Inc, an innovation consultancy that accelerates innovation by using the power of design thinking; leveraging over 25 years of innovation, design and sustainability expertise. Lorrie enjoyed a 21 year career at Nike, with her last role in 2017 as the VP of Nike’s Material Science and Innovation. Her passion for design, innovation and sustainability has made her a recognized global leader in bringing innovation to all facets of Nike’s products as well as shaping the future of the apparel and footwear industry. Since 2017, She has been providing Innovation Consulting services to large corporations like Google and to small technology start-ups. From strategic planning to innovative solutions, my focus is always on building an efficient and results-driven relationship. More About Me
Lorrie has received several honors throughout her career. In early 2011, she was named by Oregon Museum of Science and Industry as one of the top 12 innovators, holding over 20 utility patents. She was the co-creator of GreenXchange which debuted at the World Economic Forum in Davos 2010, and led the Regional WEF discussion on Sustainable Consumption in India. In 2007, she was named to Fast Company’s Fast 50, the magazine’s annual compilation of innovative companies and the “incubators of genius”. Her Sustainable Design Work has been recognized in several publications; “Strategies for Sustainable Design” (Adam Worbach), “Green to Gold” (Dan Estby), and as an M.I.T. Case Study. Lorrie continues to be a frequent presenter at universities and is a celebrated keynote speaker for symposiums such as PopTech, Back End Innovation and Design Management Institute’s annual conference.
As VP of Nike’s Material Science and Innovation, her role was to incorporate emerging science and technology into materials creating game-changing performance innovations for athletes. Previously Lorrie was the GM for Sustainable Design at Nike seeking to combine design innovation and conservation, while maintaining the highest level of performance for Nike products. As GM Lorrie designed, developed and launched the FTW and APP Sustainability Indices to rate all Nike products and move the Co. towards its closed loop vision. These indices positioned Nike as a sustainability leader and are broadly adopted by the Apparel and Footwear industries. Previously Lorrie was the Innovation Director for Nike Footwear, Apparel and Equipment. Her innovative thinking created several new product technologies that delivered powerful IP and significant competitive advantage to Nike. Before working at Nike, she was a partner at one of the top three design firms; working on a diverse range of products from snowboard bindings to lady shavers. She started her career as a toy designer for Texas Instruments working on several educational products like Speak-n-Spell.
